Who we are
Shala is a small word with a big feeling.
Shala.Live was created for people who want to move, breathe, and reconnect even when life isn’t going swimmingly.
We believe wellness doesn’t have to be loud, polished or in perfect homes. It can be simple, human and shared.
We are working hard to think how we can make movement, breathwork, and other wellbeing practices work in a way that support modern life.
Not pre-recorded perfection. But real-time presence, across time zones, cultures, and living rooms so everyone also has the chance to connect.
We imagined Shala for the in-between people.
To sit alongside your gym membership, your studio pass, your Sunday sunrise morning run.
To be the place you can rely on when life shifts.
When recovery requires softness. When travel interrupts. When time is tight.
For the ones caring for someone small, ill or elderly. For the ones stuck in endless meetings. For when it rains.
We can’t always get to the studio, but that doesn't mean we can’t make space for a short moment during the day to pause, reconnect and recharge.
If you’ve ever worried about quietly falling out of the rhythms that keep you well, Shala.Live is your way back in.
You might join from London at lunch.
From Shanghai at sunrise.
From Buenos Aires at midnight.
Different clocks. Same intention.
A gentler way to move
While everyone is welcome here, Shala.Live was created with a particular kind of person in mind: someone who may be navigating a more challenging season of life and is looking for a safe, supportive space to reconnect with their body and mind.
Many of our members are returning to movement after illness, injury, surgery, pregnancy, burnout, chronic pain, or a long period of simply feeling disconnected from themselves. Others are perfectly healthy but are looking for movement that leaves them feeling calmer, steadier and more grounded rather than exhausted.
For that reason, our teacher-led classes are intentionally gentle, thoughtful and nervous-system friendly. You’ll find an emphasis on breath, mobility, mindful strength, flexibility and sustainable movement instead of high-intensity workouts or pushing to your limits.
You will never be encouraged to “push through” pain, compete with others or perform. Rest is always welcome. Modifications are always welcome. Listening to your body is considered a success, as the philosophy of Yoga teaches us also kindness towards ourselves and others.
If you’re looking for fast-paced fitness, sweaty bootcamps or physically demanding workouts, Shala.Live is probably not the right fit—and that’s completely okay.
If you’re looking for a place where you can arrive exactly as you are, move with curiosity rather than pressure, and leave feeling a little more at home in your body than when you arrived, we think you’ll feel very welcome here.
